Dear clients,
the Romanian government has introduced the e-Transport system for high tax risk goods in 2022. From 1 July 2024, the new conditions will apply to all goods shipped to Romania, not only to goods with a high risk of tax evasion. The main objective of the new system is to minimize cases of tax evasion, reduce the loss of VAT revenue and prevent illegal trade.
What does this mean?
From 1 July 2024, all groups of goods must be reported to the e-Transport system, registered with a UIT (Unic International Transport) number and marked with it during transport to Romania. Without UIT we will not be able to deliver your shipments. The UIT code must be indicated on all shipping documents. The Romanian government is planning heavy fines for those who do not comply with the new obligation.
Registration is required for any goods that meet at least one of the following conditions:
1. Goods weighing more than 500 kg
2. Value of goods exceeding 10,000 LEI (approx. € 2,000)
What needs to be done?
In order for us to be able to transport your shipments to Romania without any problems, you need to:
1. The recipient of the goods/your customer has electronically registered the goods in the e-Transport system in Romania
2. The consignee has reported the generated UIT code to you without delay
3. You have transmitted the UIT to us in data form - ideally by entering it in the reference field (UIT and number)
The UIT code can be requested up to 3 calendar days (note: calendar, not working) before the start of the shipment and is valid for 5 days from the stated date of shipment reported in the system.
